Britney Spears is now seeking to revive her music career! Last week, Spears met with her former manager, Larry Rudolph, according to celebrity news sources.

Larry Rudolph, who discovered Spears’ talent in music, managed her career for nine years until August 2007. Spears blamed him for forcing her into rehab.

“Britney wants to get back to work,” a friend of the Spears’ family said. “People close to Britney know that Larry Rudolph is the best person for her – he’s the man who can get her back on the right track career-wise.”

Rudolph said on Seacrest’s radio show: “I’ve seen her a few times over the past week or two. I’ve spent some time with her just socially. I’ve gone up to the house. I’ve sat with her. She’s in great shape.” Though the last sentence is really hard for people to believe, as we have seen so many horrible photos of Spears floating online, the conversation between Rudolph and Spears is still a positive sign.

Rudolph also explained that “what she needs now is the public to be on her side and root for her, because she deserves it and that means a lot to her.” And Rudolph sees her rising like a phoenix from the ashes when all is said and done. “I can’t think of a situation where somebody’s been set up for a bigger comeback than that girl,” he optimistically opined.

So, let’s guess what Spears’ publicist needs to do for her coming back:

1.      Force Spears to loose weight and keep shape if the publicist can.

2.      Let Spears attend charitable activities, the more the better, to give her more positive media exposure.

3.      Arrange media interviews. (Only under the situation that Spears is able to control her emotion.) Let Spears’ own voice be heard by the public, not rumors.

4.      Release the news regularly about her good relationship with her family and child.

But I still believe, whether Spears can come back on the right track mostly depends on herself. Maybe Rudolph can help her in some detail issues and the publicist can help her to gain positive exposure, the key of renascence is still and only on her hands.

Every one knows Paris Hilton – the celebrity and hotel heiress who earned a lot of negative publicity because of her online sex video and a drunken driving case. When many people commented about her dissipated behavior, Hilton saw herself as a role model for girls!

Hilton, who will sit on a jury to select Miss Turkey 2008, said that 90 percent of stories about her in the media are “complete lies,” and she complained about numerous bloggers on the Internet for spreading rumors. She added: “I don’t pay attention to lies because I am a good person, I work very hard and I’ve built this empire on my own. I think this is an inspiration for a lot of girls out there.” Asked if she was happy to be seen as a role model by girls, Hilton said: “Yes.”

OK. I don’t want to comment on Hilton’s words, as I may not have all the facts about her. No one will have the facts except for herself. However, if Hilton really wants the public to believe her, rather than criticize her fictive self-partiality, she needs to do some thing to prove it. We will wait and see.

Maybe this news has never appeared at the top news of any Web site, I just ran into it by chance. However, as soon as I red this news, I gave up the idea of writing a blog about Jennifer Lopez’s cute twins. I am hoping, my blog can do more than just entertaining.

Lucy Liu (the star in Charlie’s Angels) is calling on Americans to pay $1 for tap water in restaurants to help save children’s lives in Africa. As an ambassador of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Liu has visited Cote d’Ivoire in Africa where she found children were threatened by a lack of clean drinking water. When Liu came back, she encouraged people to pay for the tap water they’d normally get for free during World Water Week this week – to help raise $1 million to provide African children with purified water. Liu says, “If you go to a restaurant and they’d give you tap water for free, they’re asking you to donate a dollar for the tap water.” “One dollar will provide water for 40 children for one day, which is incredible. It’s kind of great – you get to go out and enjoy food with people and you get to give back in such a small and simple way.”

It is said that more than 2,000 restaurants across the U.S. have signed up to participate in World Water Week.

Liu is not the top star; neither did what she does cause a lot of attention in entertainment industry. However, to another group of people in Africa, what Liu did is about their survival and the future. I am always thinking what PR people can do in entertainment industry. Save celebrity’s reputation? Promote a good book? Introduce a fabulous but not mainstream band? Or satisfy people’s curiosity? Celebrities have the responsibility to entertain the public by creating all kinds of good or bad news-worthy story, so people have some topics after lunch. However, this should not be all of their life. Their large influence would have more value if used in charity. If one day I can be a publicist, I want to help my client in charity events and write great pitches to draw people’s attention to help others.

  Heather Mills

According to FOXNews Heather Mills and Paul McCartney have finally settled their bitter two-year divorce battle. A judge awarded Heather Mills a total of $48.6 million in the financial settlement. Their 4-year-old daughter, Beatrice, will receive a “periodical payments order” of $70,000 per annum from McCartney for the nanny and school fee.

Mills – a former model whose left leg was amputated below the knee after a motorcycle accident — married McCartney in 2002—one of the founders and former members of The Beatles. They had a daughter the following year. After only two years of marriage, the couple decided to call it quits.  That’s when the ugly battle began. In the divorce papers, Mills claimed “unreasonable behavior” by McCartney.

Though the divorce battle is over now, the public opinions are not so favorable toward Mills’ behavior during and after the divorce. Many pieces of negative news are floating online. Though the mainstream media tried to communicate with a objective tone, the content was still negative. The following reports are only a few samples of negative news: “McCartney’s ex-wife awarded almost $50 million” “Paul McCartney’s $32 Million Not Enough for Heather Mills”  and Judge Calls Heather Mills Distasteful” “Heather Mills’ Extravagant Lifestyle.” Compared to the negative tone taken to Mills, the media seemed to treat McCartney more friendly: “Report: Paul McCartney Wants to Stay Friends With Heather Mills.” We can tell from these reports that the money and Mills’ greedy behavior become the controversial topics. The words of Justice Bennett were the most often quoted and didn’t support Mills. Bennett said Mills was a “less than impressive witness” who “wholly exaggerated” the extent of her wealth before she met her now ex-husband. McCartney’s friends and attorney, Nicholas Mostyn, were quoted often by the media.  As expected, no one had nice things to say about Mills.

The words about Mills on blogs were much harsher than on the mainstream media. Some people called Mills a “gold digger.” Bloggers criticized Mills’ greedy, rude behavior before the court and her deceptive performance before the public. After the judge’s decision, Mills complained that the $70,000 a year for child support was not enough for their daughter to live well and fly first-class. Bloggers and their readers were angry about that, especially after it became known that Mills had flown back to the U.K. in first class while her daughter sat in economy with a nanny. The blogger of hollywoodgrind.com wrote an article titled with “Heather Mills Makes Daughter Fly Coach” and  posted a very ugly photo of Mills.

From both the mainstream media and blogs, we can easily tell the unfavorable opinions toward Mills and people’s sympathy on McCartney. The mainstream media reported the issue in a more objective approach by using facts and citations. However, the opinions on the blogs were more subjective  — Even dirty words appeared in the posts. Both in mainstream media and blogs, the big amount of money that Mills got from her ex-husband is the most controversial topic.

Winning a huge amount of money didn’t bring Mills a good reputation. If she still cares about her public image, future business and wants to create a good environment for her little, innocent daughter, Mills needs to work hard later on. The first thing I would suggest Mills, if I were her publicist, is to stay away from the divorce case and let it fade away from the public sight. Take good care of her daughter. Don’t let the “daughter flies in coach” happen again. As people are really focused on the big amount of money, Mills should periodically release news about how the money was spent to help others, e.g. supporting charity activities and helping animals. These actions will produce more positive topics about Mills. Right now, we don’t know what the future is for Mills, but there is one thing for sure, it will be a long process for Mills to rebuild her broken reputation.

Owen Wilson arrives at the premiere of

According to E!News, Feb. 20, 2008, Owen Wilson was heading back to the big screen for the first time since his suicide attempt last August.

Wilson’s first professional project after his coming back will be the movie Marley & Me (a canine comedy), in which he will act with Jennifer Aniston as well as a neurotic, naughty dog named Marley (maybe the biggest challenge in this movie). The movie was supposed to begin shooting last fall, however, was postponed by Wilson’s suicide attempt.

The movie is based on the best-selling memoir by John Grogan. When mentioned about Wilson, the author said: “I’m actually thrilled to have Owen Wilson portray me. We don’t look anything alike, but I think his personality will be a great fit to my own. And my wife, Jenny, is thrilled with being played by Jennifer Aniston, and so am I. What’s not to like, right?” (From E!News)

Maybe we, the audience, can wait and see what Wilson and Aniston will bring to us.

Another good news from Movieweb.com, Feb. 25, 2008, Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan will return for Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museum 2: Escape From the Smithsonian.

Well, I am really happy to see Wilson finally has made these positive moves from his suicide attempt. After reading so much negative news about Britney Spears, we do need something encouraging in entertainment industry. Both of the movies’ themes are funny and positive, which is good for Wilson to rebuild his image in the public.

If I am his publicist, I will try to catch any positive moves that Wilson makes and release these news to the public. Also, some charity events may also help his career. Wilson may also consider writing a book regarding his suicide attempt and how he recovered from the negative situation. This book could turn his sad suicide news into an inspiring and educational story to the youth.

The nude photo scandal finally got to an end as Edison Chen showed up in Hong Kong, Feb. 21, to make an apology to the public and decided to leave the Hong Kong entertainment industry forever.

(Edison Chen apologized to the public in English)

In his apology, Edison said sorry to the ladies being involved in this scandal and their family, to his own parents and to the whole Hong Kong society. He admitted that all the photos were taken by him but emphasized that these photos were very private and he never intended to release them to the public. He also admitted his failure to be a model of youth and would step away from the Hong Kong entertainment industry forever. His next plan was to delicate his time in charity community work to heal and search for his soul.

I can feel the sincere tone of Edison’s whole apology and hope people can give Edison a chance. At an individual level, I don’t think there is anything wrong with these photos as they are truly private. Edison never forced female celebrities to take these photos. However, as a model in public, this scandal has caused really bad influence not only on these celebrities, but also on the whole society. There is no better ending than Edison’s leaving from entertainment industry. This may not rescue Edison’s reputation but will definitely give this big scandal a quick end, which is everyone’s wish.

Hong Kong super singer and movie star Edison Chen’s photo scandal has gone international. In Feb. 13th, The New York Times reported this news titled as “Internet Sex Video Case Stirs Free-Speech Issues in Hong Kong”.

Internet played an important role in this scandal as the suspect released all the nude photos and video online. People who got these photos and video then shared and discussed them in their own blogs, photo albums and chat rooms. All these added fuel to the fire.

The reaction of Edison Chen and other involved female celebrities was really disappointing. Gillian Chung was the first and only celebrity that stood out to face the media. “She neither confirmed nor denied that she appeared in the images, but she said she had been ‘naïve’ in her youth and regretted causing distress to her family and fans.” (from The New York Times). Naïve?! What a stupid and powerless excuse in this case. This can not help her to rebuild her reputation. Edison Chen was said still be in Boston but planned to return to Hong Kong this weekend to hold a news conference.

I’m so curious about how will Edison explain all the issues to the public. It is so obvious that he was the person who took all these photos and videos. If he still refuses to confirm this, the news conference would be no more than a fake show and the situation would go worse and worse.

My suggestion would be: be frankly with the scandal and make sincere apologize. Also, Edison’s PR Agency (if he has one) should consider taking some positive action on Internet rather than letting the nude photos and negative comments flowing everywhere. If it began on Internet, then let’s end it on Internet.

Linked from Edison's blog

Edison Chen, a Hong Kong movie actor, singer, idol, founder of CLOT and the CEO of Clot Media Division. Chen also took part in shooting the Batman movie “the Dark Night.” His handsome appearance, wealthy family as well as his own successful career attract many females’ attention.

In January 2008, Edison Chen was caught in a sex scandal when reported nude photos of Chen and more than 20 high profile female celebrities from the Hong Kong entertainment. Up to date, hundreds of nude photos have been released online.

These private photos were said to be illegally copied from Chen’s laptop when Chen sent his laptop to a computer store for repairing. This scandal was like an earthquake to Hong Kong entertainment industry as almost all the most famous female celebrities have been involved. Hong Kong police are still looking for the suspect.

On February, 4, 2008, Chen released a video on Youtube. In this video, Chen made a public apology to the female celebrities that affected, and urged people to stop sharing photos with others and to delete photos that have already been downloaded.

However, as more and more new photos appeared online everyday, Chen’s apology and appeal seem to be powerless. The scandal went out of control. His newest movie has been cancelled and music tape has been delayed for publishing. Pepsi, Levi’s and Samsung are considering canceling their advertising contracts with Chen. Most female celebrities that involved in this scandal stopped their appearance in public as well as their jobs on hand.

The whole Hong Kong entertainment industry has been interrupted. The only hope right now is that the suspect can be caught and no more photos appear online.

However, even if the suspect is caught, this scandal has already caused deathblow to Chen’s career and public image. Will Chen be able to rebuild his reputation and keep working in Hong Kong entertainment? Or will he disappear from public forever? Also, what will those female celebrities’ reaction for this scandal? Some of them are at their peak of career and some have just married and got babies. All we see now is silence. What’s next?
